I feel so lucky to introduce you to my friend and fellow author, Alyssa Auch. We not only share a love for fantasy and adventure, but also a publisher, Caliburn Books (Malachite Quills Publishing). She manages to balance her writing, family, and career with a combination of humor and positivity, and I am thrilled to have her here.
Did you always want to be a writer?
Always. My mother, Eileen Sharp, is a writer, and I wanted to be just like
That is so sweet! I know she must be so proud of you too.
What inspires you to write?
People inspire me to write. I love human interactions, the drama of a struggle, and most especially, magic! When I read, I want to escape into a world that isn’t like the one I’m already in. I write for the same reasons.
Do you have a daily writing routine/schedule?
Alas, no! With three children ages 3, 2, and 3 months, I really just write when I can find the time.
I know exactly what you mean. I have to escape to my closet to find a moment to write.
Any tips for new authors?
Edit! Edit like crazy. Don’t send anything in unless it is publish ready.
What is the current Book you are promoting?
I am promoting my Young Adult novel, Lunula.
Can you describe your main character for us?
Wynn is the only witch born in 100 years. She is running from a destiny of death and destruction, but she tries to keep her humanity through it all. She is empathetic and understanding, but she won’t take any crud from someone attempting to take advantage of her. Shakespeare said it best: “And though she be but little, she is fierce.”
