Thank you so much for joining me today Asher! It's always a pleasure to talk to you. First, just a few basic questions so everyone can get an idea about you and your story.
Did you always want to be a writer?
I always knew that I could write, but I never thought of doing it as a profession. In class, I really enjoyed spelling and writing prompts. In fact, I am pretty sure I was the only student back in my day that actually looked forward to writing finals. Still, with that being said, writing was something that recently consumed me. I was introduced to creative writing and, naturally, my imagination became vast. After Twilight hit the theater, I was sure that I wanted to write Mana.
What inspires you to write?
My characters! Every time I go through my stories I learn something different from them. Most writers will tell you they have a bond with their characters, but the bond I have with them seems unreal—like I can breathe their air and interact with their scenery. With my characters, I feel more serene. They are my muse and I am proud to say that.
Do you have a daily writing routine/schedule?
No, sadly. I would love to write more, but between promotion, editing, school, and a somewhat salvageable social life, there really is not enough time in the day. But the moments when I can write, I cherish the most.
What has been your favorite part of being an author?
The interaction! There is nothing like receiving feedback and getting to know the people who enjoy your work. I thrive off feedback! Who knows, a suggestion may just end up in one of my books.
Any tips for new authors?
Do not conform and never give up! The writing world is a lot harsher on people than it used to be. Do not just write about stories that are hot. Dare to be different. I wrote about a dragoon (give them a chance and you will love them). Every idea is great and unique, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I look forward to your books!
What is the current Book you are promoting?
I am currently promoting Mana, a novel about a young boy with a very unique power that comes from a necklace. I have actually been working on Mana for a little over two years. I plan to write a sequel, but Mana wants my attention at the moment and I’m glad to give it! Mana is a young adult, fantasy. While readers have given notable comparisons to Twilight, Mana is a unique experience (no vamps involved). There is a very special Valentine’s Day edition for the book, and I am currently running a giveaway for them here! Like my main character, I am a romantic. This edition is very personal to me and I’d love for people to share this feeling. Enter, and when you win this edition as your own, you will see what I mean.
Can you describe your main character for us?
Eurich is a smart kid. He is seventeen and headed into his senior year of school. He grows up fast because he learns he has a undeniable legacy. A romantic by heart, Eurich is willing to sacrifice even himself for those he loves and cherishes. His love for someone in particular threatens to change the way he views life and death.
Ok, that's enough of the business talk. Let's let everyone know a bit about you! :)
Favorite Book? The Twilight Saga, New Moon.
Favorite Author? Edgar A. Poe, always and forever. He introduced me to dark romanticism and I’m forever grateful!
Favorite Food? Steak! (I am such a guy).
Favorite Sport? I am a avid practitioner of Martial Arts.
*note to self, do not mess with Asher! :)
Favorite Quote? “They were the lonely, once, too.”
Favorite Car/Truck? My dream car has been the Saturn Sky 2007 Redline Edition for a long time lol.
Card Game or Board Game? Card games. Not just Spades or Uno, I also enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh! and Naruto.
Beach or Mountains? Mountains! Beaches are nice, but mountains are majestic to me. I hope to take a retreat in mountains someday.
Hot or Cold? I’d say I’m somewhere in the middle. I tend to complain when it is hot or cold.
Book or Kindle? Kindle, though I love a good collection for the bookshelf!
Shoes or Sandals? Shoes. I find them more stylish.
Walk or Ride? If it is local, I will walk. Otherwise, I enjoy the scenery of a good road trip.
Early Bird or Night Owl? Night owl. Night time is serene to me…probably why most of my books happens at night and is based around moons.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I would just like to say one more time to never give up! Doubt is strong and is hard to overcome, but with a little determination and vision, you can achieve anything. Nothing is too far away.
Today is a special day too! Your second edition releases today. If you haven't had a chance to read this book yet, now is your time! New content, added drama, and a new look.
