About the book...
Time to Let Go is a contemporary family drama set in Britain. Following a traumatic incident at work Stewardess Hanna Korhonen decides to take time off work and leaves her home in London to spend quality time with her elderly parents in rural England. There she finds that neither can she run away from her problems, nor does her family provide the easy getaway place that she has hoped for. Her mother suffers from Alzheimers' and, while being confronted with the consequences of her issues at work, she and her entire family are forced to reassess their lives. The book takes a close look at family dynamics and at human nature in a time of a crisis. Their challenges, individual and shared, take the Korhonens on a journey of self-discovery and redemption.
This book is excellent at pointing out the true and often difficult moments of life… and the truth about family dynamics, personal choices and limitations. No matter how old you are, growth on many different levels is possible, from having new experiences, changing old thought patterns, and accepting difficult realizations.
I will admit, I don’t read a lot of “serious” books. I tend to stick with fantasy, fun, and escape… but just like sometimes you want to hear a sad song or watch a different type of movie, sometimes you need to read something outside your normal genre. I am so glad I did. This is a family drama that draws you in, stirs your emotions, and leaves you wanting to visit your own family. 5 Stars - I highly recommend it.
