So, Luca, tell me. Did you always want to be a writer?
Thanks for the lovely question, Kirstin, and for the great opportunity of this interview.
It has always been my greatest dream. Since I was a child, I loved books and everything around them. I loved paper books, ancient books, I took care religiously of my library. There was nothing more important for me. Books meant knowledge. I felt great when I discovered something new and important.
When I grew up I thought that my dreams should become more serious, so for almost fifteen years I tried to focus on something different, but I could not forget about my first and true love. My wishes became stronger and stronger and I finally gave up. I quit my job and I decided to be what I always wanted.
That is wonderful! I think so many people get trapped in doing what they think they should do rather than following their hearts. That takes courage.
What inspires you to write?
My true passion is the future. I’m more and more convinced that in just a few years we’re going to be very different from what we are now. The revolutions of the last fifty years are nothing compared to how we are going to change in the next five decades. So, the greatest inspiration comes from imaging how we’re going to change. But sometimes I also like to loose myself in distant fantasy worlds or in the far future.
Do you have a daily writing routine/schedule?
I do my best to focus my daily routine on writing, editing, studying and promoting. I like to write in the early morning. First I read what I’ve written the previous day, then I continue my story. Then I relax with some editing, I browse the Web looking for interesting topics and finally I spend a couple of hours promoting.
What is the current book you are promoting?
I am promoting I Rami del Tempo, an erotic-fantasy novel in Italian, and Galactic Energies in English. I am very pleased about the results on Amazon.com. My dream has always been to publish in English. Most of my favorite sci-fi authors are American, so when I saw that I could do well as a self-publisher on Amazon Us it has been one of the greatest joys in my career.
Can you describe your main characters for us?
Galactic Energies is collection of different tales, so there are many main characters. I can talk about three of them.
I like Mario. He is clumsy, awkward, he has not a great self-confidence not sure. He’s an antihero, but he is also a true genius. He is not the kind of person that you would like to be with you in an emergency, but in the long distance he is a true winner.
Isabella, his wife, is the opposite. She is practical, always ready to act, but maybe she is not the one who will save humans from the threat of artificial intelligences.
I love Alberto Ferrari, the main character of my tale Rewind. He is a great entrepreneur, always ready to find new ideas to overcome all difficulties. He is a true innovator, but in my tale we’re going to discover something very odd about his world…
I am intrigued... those sound like some dynamic characters!
Now for some quick fire questions so we can get to know you personally.
