'When Violet was Blue' has all the makings of a great children's book... When Violet is feeling blue, her friends quickly run to her side to see how they can cheer her up. What happens next is a great story about feelings, friendship, and teamwork.
One of my favorite lines is worth mentioning... "Work side by side with each other and remember to bend." Both a literal and figurative meaning that really captures the essence of this book.
While I appreciated the story, it felt a bit short and I found myself wishing for more. This is the perfect addition for a bedtime library, quiet time play... or a rainy day.
I was leaning towards giving this a 4 star until I reached the very end. At the end of the book, the author has included a section of activities and extra information about rainbows. Due to this addition, and the extra attempts at engagement and interaction, my final review is 4.5 stars.
